Eyewear Care & Cleaning
Congratulations on purchasing your new handcrafted frames and premium prescription lenses. The following guide includes some practical “best practices” to help you keep your eyewear functional and free from warping, scratching, or any other damage. Your purchase comes with a manufacturer warranty against defects on the frame, lenses, and coatings. If you need any assistance or experience any issues, please give us a call. Enjoy your new glasses!

How to care for your eyewear:
- DO wash your frame & lenses often.
- DO store your glasses in a hard case when not in use.
- DO keep your glasses out of direct sunlight or in hot cars (especially on the dashboard). This can cause the frames to warp and the lens coatings to degrade.
- DO use both hands when removing and putting on your glasses. This motion encourages correct alignment and minimizes changes to the fit of your frames over time.
- DO get regular “tune-ups” to ensure your glasses maintain a proper fit. All adjustments are complimentary.
- DON’T use household glass or surface cleaners (i.e. Windex) to clean your glasses. These products contain ingredients that can damage your frames, lenses & coatings.
- DON’T use saliva or your breath to wet your lenses. It doesn’t provide enough moisture for cleaning and can leave bacteria on the lenses.
- DON’T use your shirttail, paper towels, napkins, or facial/toilet tissues to clean your lenses. These can smear & scratch your lenses and leave lint on them.
- DON’T try to "buff away" a scratch in your lenses as it only makes the situation worse. Please contact us if this occurs.

How to clean your eyewear:
Follow these tips to clean your lenses and frames without the risk of scratching the lenses or causing damage to the lens coatings.
1. Thoroughly wash & dry your hands
Use a lotion-free soap to remove any dirt, lotion, or anything that could be transferred from your hands to your lenses. Dry your hands with a clean towel.
2. Rinse your glasses under lukewarm tap water
Avoid hot water which can damage some eyeglass lens coatings.
3. Apply a small drop of mild dish soap to both sides of your lenses
Do not use brands that include lotions. We recommend using Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid.
4. Gently rub your lenses and all parts of the frame for a few seconds
Clean the nose pads, ends of the temples that rest behind your ears, and the area where the edge of the lenses meet the frame.
5. Thoroughly rinse your frame & lenses
Any traces of soap will cause the lenses to smear when you dry them.
6. Gently shake your glasses to eliminate the water from the lenses
Inspect the frames & lenses carefully to make sure they are fully cleaned.
7. Carefully dry your frame & lenses
Use a clean lint-free cotton towel that has not been laundered with fabric softener or a dryer sheet which can smear the lenses.
8. Inspect the lenses again
Hold your frame up to a light source. If any streaks or smudges remain on the lenses, remove them with a clean microfiber cloth.
9. For touch-up cleaning of your lenses
Gently remove any smudges using a clean microfiber cloth & spray eyeglass cleaner or an individually-packaged disposable lens cleaning wipe specially formulated for use on eyeglass lenses.
