Traction Productions Logo

The Traction collection takes the best of French design and then pushes things just a little further. The color combinations are fresh and youthful. Rhinestones – yes! Dull shapes – never! This line is more about revolution than evolution.

Traction has been in the business of creating truly unique eyewear since 1872, through five generations of the same family. The idea of the collection is to create a combination of California modernity and French refinement.

About

Traction Productions’ brand name comes from Traction Avenue, a street of Los Angeles famous for its art district. The brand is itself inspired by Californian modernity and its spirit of freedom, in order to create unique eyewear models. Despite very noticeable lines, the brand shows no logos, preferring style and nothing but the style.

The Traction Productions brand is constantly mixing tradition and technology to propose a wide range of both optical and sun high-end eyewear "made in France." Collections are created for a variety of inspirations such as arts, architecture, travel, or, of course, Haute Couture.

Traction Productions’ frames are a perfect fit for people willing to show a style made of elegance and uniqueness.

History

Traction Productions is the brand of Maison de Lunetterie Victor Gros, an historical company lead by 5 generations of the same family. Founded in 1872, in Oyonnax, France, by Edouard Gros, the company was originally manufacturing hair ornaments. With fashion evolving, notably toward short hair for women, the company diversified its activities and in the 1930s the company started making eyewear in cellulose acetate.

From the day he took over the company, Traction Productions’ head designer Thierry Gros has been willing to perpetuate the tradition of local manufacturing, in the birthplace of eyewear making – Jura, Japan.

From the 1st collection in 1989 up to today – colors and shapes have been used with no restrictions and no constraints.
