Tom Davies & Zeiss Partnership Video Transcript

(Kristy Cambone) - One of the top priorities for us here at Urban Optiks, in addition to offering a very high quality product, is to have a very fashion-relevant product.

(Kristy Cambone) - My name is Kristy Cambone, and I am the manager and lead optician at Urban Optiks Optometry in San Diego. When it comes to working with frame partners, we look for brands that offer truly independent eyewear that's handmade and focused very much on fashion. We also look for eyewear that you can't find everywhere else. When it comes to quality, Dr. Klein was very particular about who he partnered with in the practice, and that covers frame lines, lens manufacturers, equipment suppliers, all of the above.

(Kristy Cambone) - One of the reasons why we love Tom Davies here at Urban Optiks is because it's a very fashion-forward frame line. Patients loves them. It's very modern. Urban Optiks is proud to be one of only two practices in San Diego that offers the Bespoke Tom Davies service.

(Chad Thomsen) - What the full Bespoke means is that we can actually fit your eyewear perfectly to your face. We call it "frame easy eye". Urban Optiks here in San Diego are experts at it, and I would recommend that you come see one of their professionals here to be fit perfectly with a set of eyewear that's handmade, high quality, out of London, England.

(Chad Thomsen) - Well, first of all, I just want to get into a little bit of the materials that we actually make our eyewear from. Number one is what a lot of people think is plastic. It's actually called acetate. We actually make our own, and we actually run it through one more process that most people don't do. We run it through an extruder. By running it through an extruder, we actually eliminate 2% of the moisture content inside that acetate, so your frames will not go out of adjustment. We also use pure titanium. None of our titanium is painted. We actually ion plate it like you would in a jewelry process, and that makes sure that we keep the integrity of that color over time.

(Kristy Cambone) - We had a lot of options when it came to choosing a lens partner. Zeiss was our first choice, for sure. One of the reasons is that they are foundation owned, which is also in line with our desire to work with independent companies, and they focus highly on technology and are a very innovative company to work with.

(Kristy Cambone) - We have a lot of patients that come to us having tried progressive lenses before, and having not adapted to them. With Zeiss lenses, especially their premium progressive lenses, we're able to put them in a lens that's going to have a very high success rate. Almost all of our patients who have had previous problems adapting to progressive lenses succeed with a Zeiss progressive.

(Kristy Cambone) - Working with Zeiss and Tom Davies allows us to offer our patient a truly customizable pair of eyewear. From customizing their frame fit to customizing their lens fit, we can give them one of a kind eyewear.
